Note: At the time, the Chi Hi class of 1975 was the second largest class to moved through the Chippewa Falls district, the class of 1976 was the largest. We also were the the first group of kids to do all day kindergarden, every other day. The experiment failed and they did not try it again until 1982, when my son started Kindergarten, and his teacher was Mrs. Linda (Johnson) Crawford.* The Chestnut annex building was the old high school located on Bridge St and Elm, it's now apartments. Half of the old high school was tore down and made into a parking lot, which was our play ground. We walked over to Chestnut for the hot lunch program, alway going first and back to the annex before the younger kids were served. The annex also housed Chi Hi's industrial arts, until the "new" addition at Chi Hi was built. Because of all the "older" high school boys in the building, there was very strict rules of keeping us apart from them, we were kept on the top floor and rarely saw the high school kids. They only used this building the one year, which was election year (1968-Nixon won and we were polled but most of the kids voted for Hubert Humphrey). The following year, all the 6th graders from the class of 1976 were bused out to Eagleton.
