Partnering to Preserve Our History
The Dunn County Historical Society is seeking "Heritage Partners"
to join us in our mission by supporting the services we provide to the
area. Your investment provides a lot of "bang for the buck." Professional
volunteer staff manages the Dunn County Historical Society, keeping
costs low. Contributions are used to preserve local history and provide
educational programs. Your support is needed to continue and expand
these programs. Monetary or "in-kind" contributions are an
investment in the community's quality of life. Businesses can become

Contributing to Quality of Life
Museums, libraries, schools, parks and cultural arts enhance the quality of life in our community. Quality of life is a major factor in the area's recent strong economic growth and why businesses, employees and their families choose to settle here. As the "keeper" of local history, the Dunn County Historical Society has added to that quality of life for more than 50 years.
Founded in 1950, the society is the only local historical organization operating museums in the county that are sanctioned by the Wisconsin State Historical Society. Since its beginning, the society's mission has been "to discover, preserve, interpret, and disseminate knowledge about the history of Dunn County and its role in Wisconsin and to arouse interest in the past." The society operates the Russell J. Rassbach Heritage Museum in Menomonie's Wakanda Park, and the Empire in Pine Museum in Downsville. The heritage museum undoubtedly ranks as one of the top three museums in northwest Wisconsin. The society actively promotes other historical attractions in the county.
More than just a non-profit service to the community, the historical society is also an economic engine. Our museums and the society's annual Fur Trade Rendezvous attract thousands of visitors a year — visitors who spend thousands of dollars locally.
