- Mabel Tainter Memorial
Online exhibit of the famous theatre's historical backdrop
collection. The Mabel Tainter Memorial represents the best architectural
and interior design of the grand era known as the Victorian Age. It
was constructed as a tribute to young Mabel Tainter, a lover of music
and the arts, who died in 1886 at the age of nineteen.

- Wisconsin Historical
Society
The Library Division contains approximately 3.4 million
items relating to the history and prehistory of North America and
serves as the American history library for UW-Madison. The Archives
Division is a major repository for manuscript collections documenting
Wisconsin and U.S. history and is the official archives for Wisconsin
state and local government records. The holdings include paper records,
photographs, films, maps, and other materials.

Wisconsin Heritage Online is an expanding digital collection, featuring documentary sources and material culture from Wisconsin libraries, archives, and museums. The collections in this exhibition project are contributed by cultural heritage organizations throughout Wisconsin.

Electronic Reader
Brimming with primary source data on the history and
culture of the state, the Electronic Reader is organized chronologically
into thirteen sections covering selected years from 1835 to 1949.
It contains such gems as full text of Reuben Gold Thwaites' History
of the University of Wisconsin, Increase A. Lapham's A Winter's
Journey from Milwaukee to Green Bay, 1843, a chapter from John
Muir's The Story of My Boyhood and Youth, and full text of
Charles McCarthy's The Wisconsin Idea. Sections include early
lumbering, women in Wisconsin, early Madison, and galleries of people,
places, the University of Wisconsin, and other items.
- Wisconsin's French Connections
This site honors the memory and continued presence of
French speaking people from many nations who, over the last 350 years,
have helped make Wisconsin and the midwest United States what they
are today. Today, from one end of Wisconsin to the other, French names
remain as reminders of the people who passed through, and frequently
remained.
- Mississippi Valley Archaeology
Center
Provides education about ancient cultures of the upper
Mississippi River Valley, conducts research and exploration of archaeological
sites and artifacts, preserves archaeological artifacts of ancient
cultures which flourished within the upper Mississippi Valley, and
provides a regional center to promote understanding of the prior inhabitants
of thisregion.
